Security Camera Program

Program Description

For a limited time, the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie is offering a rebate to property owners who install one or more security cameras outside their property. Each residence is eligible for one (1) rebate, including installation costs, up to a maximum amount of one hundred dollars ($100.00), subject to the conditions outlined below. The rebate program will remain in effect until funds are depleted. The Town Council will reassess the program annually during budget discussions, considering public participation and interest.

Public safety is a top priority for the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie. Increasing the presence of security cameras throughout the municipality will support law enforcement efforts, deter criminal activity, and enhance overall community safety and security.

  • This offer is available to residents within the municipal boundaries of the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie. Security camera systems must be installed outside a residential building to qualify. Eligible security cameras must be purchased between April 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026, or until funds are depleted.

    To be eligible for the security camera rebate, applicants must:

    • Purchase a security camera between April 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026, or until funds are depleted.
    • Complete the application form below.
    • Provide photographic evidence of the installed cameras as well as purchase receipts.
    • Agree to provide security camera recordings to the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie and the RCMP to assist in criminal investigations within the community.
    • Ensure that the security cameras meet the required technical specifications and eligibility criteria.

    Only valid applications will be accepted.

    1. Complete the provided application form and submit it to the Regional Town of Cap-Acadie.
    2. Provide proof of purchase and installation of the security cameras:
      • A dated receipt from April 1, 2026, or later, but before June 30, 2026.
      • A photograph of the installed camera or a receipt from the installer.

    Security cameras eligible for the rebate must meet the following technical specifications:

    • Camera resolution: 3 megapixels or higher
    • Screen resolution: 2048 x 1536
    • Video quality: High
    • Frames per second: 15
    • Storage capacity: 64 GB or more (SD cards can be purchased and installed to increase storage capacity)

    To be eligible, security camera systems must:

    • Be installed outside a residential building.
    • Meet the minimum technical and video quality specifications.
    • Ideally, retain video recordings for at least forty-eight (48) hours.
    • Be designed for outdoor use and be weather-resistant.

    Applicants are responsible for ensuring their camera system is functional. A non-operational camera or system does not benefit the community and cannot contribute to improving public safety. A defective or non-functional camera may result in non-compliance. It is strongly recommended to address any issues as soon as possible.
