*Program Funds Exhausted for 2026*

We intend to pursue this initiative in 2027. Please check this page again in the new year!

The PAWsitive Fix Program, established in collaboration with PAW (People for Animal Wellbeing), aims to help the Cap-Acadie community responsibly control the cat population in the area through spaying and neutering.

The program’s objectives are to prevent feline overpopulation, reduce abandonment, improve animal welfare, and lessen the impact on the community.

This is a pilot project for the year 2026, and funding will be available until all funds have been exhausted. The program may be reassessed next year.

The program is offered through a partnership between PAW and Cap-Acadie. For the time being, it is therefore reserved exclusively for residents of Cap-Acadie.

  • The program is intended exclusively for owned domestic cats. Stray or ownerless cats are not eligible at this time.

There is a maximum of 2 cats per household for the current year.

Cats must be at least 16 weeks old to receive this service.

Due to limited funding for this year, and following consultations with veterinarians and PAW, the first phase of the project is aimed at domestic cats that have outdoor access and have not yet been spayed or neutered.

*There is no age limit, as long as the cat is in good health. PAW and the veterinary team will evaluate each case individually.

The owner must pay $25 per cat, payable to the Town of Cap‑Acadie. The program covers the remaining cost of the service and also pays $100 per cat to the SBA. The contribution must be paid before obtaining an appointment.

    * Funding for this program has been exhausted for 2026, so no new applications will be processed at this time.

Check this page again in 2027 for more information!

    1. Fill out the online registration form.

    REGISTRATION FORM

    2. Once the application has been reviewed, eligible residents will receive an email confirming their eligibility for the program.

    3. Pay the $25 fee at the town hall and wait to be contacted with the date and time of the appointment.

      * The SBA is responsible for scheduling the spay or neuter appointment with the partner veterinarian. However, the cat owner must provide transportation for the animal.

If this is not possible, an assessment will be conducted to determine whether transportation assistance can be provided.

If you would like to support the program, you can make a voluntary donation by contacting Stacy Couturier, Director of Development at PAW.
