Open Studio Visit - Jean-Denis Boudreau
Following a stay at the Matapédia Train Station in May, Moncton artist Jean-Denis Boudreau continues his residency journey at Projet Borgitte from June 1 to June 16 as part of the Québec–Acadie Residency Program.
His project, Hypnagogic, explores perceptual states as vehicles for transformation. This exploration stems from a desire to reactivate forms of listening and connection by engaging with hypnosis, bodily signals, and natural perceptual processes. The project seeks to open up these transformative spaces through the use of technological and pseudo-scientific tools that reflect the possible coexistence of small doses of hope and a sense of urgency.
During his residency, the hypnagogic state and fatigue will be explored through an isolation capsule. The installation will be enhanced with frequency-based experiments and comforting materials in order to reach a point of calm—the zero degree, a neutral state where new and unexpected thoughts can emerge.
Come witness his work and meet the artist during the open studio visit on June 13!
