Writing Workshop – Cap-Broussard – Poems in Correspondence
In 1984, the mayors of Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick, and Broussard, Louisiana, signed a friendship pact officially twinning their municipalities. By declaring their “commitment to fostering understanding and friendship among Acadians around the world,” these two Acadian communities created a lasting bond that continues today—nourished by artistic, musical, and symbolic exchanges, as well as the granting of honorary citizenships.
In the spirit of this partnership, Chase Cormier invites participants to take part in a poetic correspondence workshop.
Participants will be encouraged to write a poem-letter addressed to a resident of Broussard after collectively reflecting on the history of the twinning and the themes that emerge from it.
