Cap-Acadie Invests in a Strong and Sustainable Future
Cap-Acadie, November 10, 2025 – During the Regular Meeting on November 10, 2025, the Cap-Acadie Municipal Council approved its budget for the 2026 fiscal year. True to its commitment to responsible and balanced management, the council focused on financial stability by keeping the tax rate unchanged for the coming year.
The basic tax rate remains at $1.0211 per $100 of assessment for Cap-Acadie East and Cap-Acadie West, $1.0481 for Haute-Aboujagane, and $1.3400 for Cap-Pelé. This decision reflects the council’s commitment to prudent financial management while acknowledging the ongoing increase in the cost of living for residents.
"The 2026 budget demonstrates our commitment to providing quality services and planning for the future in a sustainable and responsible way," emphasized Mayor Serge Leger. "Every decision is made in the best interest of our citizens, with the goal of building a strong and well-equipped community for the future."
Investing in Our Infrastructure and Living Environment
In 2026, the focus will be on road maintenance and rehabilitation, municipal infrastructure, and various community improvement projects.
The Regional Town will also continue its planning efforts for the opening of the Cap-Acadie Intergenerational Centre, a flagship project that will help strengthen local vitality and encourage exchanges between generations. Resources are also allocated to support cultural and tourism vitality as well as public safety.
A Balanced, Forward-Looking Budget
The operating budget for 2026 is $13,192,272. This amount will allow the Regional Town to continue providing quality municipal services to its residents.
"Cap-Acadie continues to grow and develop," added Mayor Leger. "Through sound management and a shared vision, we are preparing for the future while maintaining the financial balance needed to support our priorities."
